Background
You may be wondering, "Who is this Mr. Florez, and why is he teaching math to my child(ren)?"
I come from Madison, New Jersey, a small suburban town in Morris County. I graduated Madison High School in 2011 and Mount Saint Mary College in 2015. In high school, I was required to take 9 math credits, and I graduated with 18 math credits instead. I always had a passion for mathematics. If you're interested in my college courses, find the "Courses Taken" tab.
I've also been devoted to teaching since as long as I can remember. My mother once told me a story I told her: I was in first grade when my teacher stepped me aside and asked me a very serious question. It was recess, and I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong, but in elementary school, teachers were out to get you, and the things they could fabricate to get you in trouble, well, I had reason for alarm. “I wasn’t doing anything wrong, Mrs. Muntz,” I preemptively defended. She laughed, knowing her reputation. “Alexander. You are not in trouble. I was just wondering… are you teaching Charlie how to play chess?” I was not a chess prodigy. I was not a genius. I was not a phenomenon. I was and am a teacher.

Hobbies
I enjoy performing on stage. I have acted in a couple of plays. I have also taken on the director's role from time to time. One of my greatest passions is improvisational theatre. In college, I co-directed a troupe for 3 years. I find that improv teaches many lessons that are hard to come by with today's "fill in the bubble" testing and education:
Avoiding failure is avoiding living.
Jump out without an idea, and something amazing will happen.
Discover as you go.
Trust in yourself and in your peers.
